The Church Outreach Group were in school yesterday doing Messy Remembrance with Year 5. This is part of the Messy Church initiative, using the craft format to get across a message. This time we were talking about poppies, why, we wear them at this time of year. Father Simon introduced the session and spoke about war and peace.
We made origami peace cranes like ones made by children every year at the Hiroshima Peace Park. Made a wall of peace words. Iced poppy biscuits (soon eaten!). Made a huge poppy collage and made Prayer flags.
We ended by by looking at different types of peace.
