Observing changes over time

We gathered a few foods together and put them separately into jiffy bags (half a lemon, strawberries, raspberries, a slice of bread, half a carrot, half an apple and a bottle of milk).  We then asked the children to describe what they looked like and if they were okay to eat and drink.  We discussed what might happen to these items if we left them out on a tray for a few days and the children responded by saying they would go furry, mouldy, turn grey/green, smelly and be yuk. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the changes to the food and talking about which items decay the quickest.
