Morning Nursery. Today I thought we could go on a hunt. Watch this clip of Michael Rosen going on a bear hunt to help you think about what you might need to do and where you might need to go!
Now, I would like you to go on your own hunt. You could go on a bear hunt like in the video, or choose something else to look for. This could be an animal you know that lives close, or a mythical animal like a dragon or unicorn!
I have included a bit of my own hunt for the Sock Monster that mysteriously eats socks in my house…
Adults – Repetitive stories like this are fantastic for developing early language and problem solving. Practising and retelling them regularly, with your child, aids story building as children naturally adapt them. Also, retelling the story whilst completing an activity can be a really good way of encouraging the use of descriptive language and imagination with children generating their own obstacles and how they could get around them.
