Pencil grip

Many of you have sent me photos of you drawing and colouring so I am posting this blog to help you hold your pencil properly and show you how to make marks.

I call these ‘bunny ears’. You use these fingers to hold a pencil correctly.

Practice opening an closing your ‘bunny ears’ by moving your fingers down to touch your thumb like this:

Hold the pencil between the thumb and index finger ( you know this finger as ‘Peter Pointer’) and rest it on your middle finger (Toby Tall) underneath like this.

Now you are ready to make some marks!

It is important when you start drawing (or writing) that you start at the correct spot and move from left to right when drawing a line or anticlockwise when drawing a circle.

Have a go at drawing some lines and circles. Happy drawing!
