This week we have been reading the story of The Gingerbread Man and finding out about different parts of the book such as front cover, the end, reading left to right and learning the rhyme that goes with the story.
We decided to make some gingerbread men too. We looked at the recipe and learned new words like ingredients and instructions.
We measured weights of the flour, sugar, syrup, butter and used our senses to look, feel, smell and taste.
We mixed all the dry ingredients together then used the microwave to melt the butter and sugar.
We rolled out the dough and cut out gingerbread man shapes before putting them in the oven to cook.
We were very careful not to let any run away like the Gingerbread Man in the story!
Luckily none escaped so we decorated them and took them home for our tea!
