Good morning Year 1. Here is a list of the learning opportunities for today. We hope they will inspire and engage your children with guidance and interaction from an adult…
Have a good day!
Kind Regards,
The Year 1 Team
English: Create a booklet about real life superheroes and write sentences to explain what they do. Try and include ‘and, but, so, because’ conjunctions to join two simple sentences together.
Maths: Find a range of containers of different shapes and sizes. Fill them up with different amounts of water. Can you show full, half full, quarter full, quarter empty, three quarters full, and three quarters empty? Can you order the containers based upon the amount of liquid they can hold (use measuring jugs to measure the amount of water in each container and support the children to read the scales in ml).
Other: Make a superhero obstacle course in the garden where children or/and adults can run, hop, jump (in different ways). Can challenges be added? Can the order of the obstacles be changed? How many different ways can the obstacle course be completed? How fast can the obstacle course be completed (timed)?
PHONICS: Please continue to familiarise yourself with the following useful websites for children to play to support their learning of phonics. Children need to focus on phase 3, 4 and 5.
This weeks focus: Phase 5 split digraphs (a-e — frame, e-e — these, i-e — kite, o-e — joke, u-e – tune

READING: Please continue to regularly listen to your child read.
It also benefits children to hear adults read to them and discuss the story.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: it is very important that the children get daily exercise. Some fun routines for the children to follow are: 1. Wake Up, Shake Up Lazytown 2. Kids Superhero song/dance – Let’s be superheroes 3. Superhero dance – Brave and Strong 4. Cosmic Kids Yoga. 5. Joe Wicks Daily PE lessons. These can be typed into a search engine by an adult who will then need to monitor them.
