Christmas Maths

During daily maths today, Year One felt festive with some Christmas maths.

In 1C , we have been looking at shapes this week. We’ve created shape Christmas trees and snowmen. Today, we had a shape competition with our maths buddies. Miss Catchpole gave us all a selection of 2D shapes and we were given the challenge to create our own Christmas picture and label the shapes that we used.

In 1M, we focused on direction today using positional language such as forwards, backwards, turn, next to, left and right. At first, we decided to use the carpet spots to help us count how many steps were needed in order to retrieve the elf but then we challenged ourselves by taking away the carpet spots and estimating how many steps it would roughly take to find our elf.

Have a look at our pictures!
