Happy Friday Year One! You have all worked extremely hard and the next time you look at the blog we will be in February. Wow, how the first month of 2021 has flown by! Have a fantastic day of learning and take a look at what we have planned for you to do today.
Castle Challenge One: Maths
This week we have been exploring money. We have looked at the different values of a variety of coins and notes, as well as adding up coins to make different amounts.
Today, we would like you create your very own shop role play area at home. Find items around the house that you could sell e.g. cuddly toys, games and don’t forget to sell the shield you made earlier on in the week!
Create your own money and label up the items so that those people coming to your shop, know how much everything costs.
Castle Challenge Two: PE
In today PE sessions, we have set you two challenges to complete.
The first challenge is called the ‘Speedway Challenge’ and it focuses on practising your movement skills.
The second challenge that we have set for you is called the’ Tow Truck Trial’ which focuses on practising your balance and agility skills.
Take a look at the PDF documents below and rise to the challenges that we have set.
Castle Challenge Three: Phonics
Help me, I’m stuck!
I need you to read through my work and correct my mistakes. There are even some sneaky pieces of punctuation missing!
How many mistakes can you spot?
READING: Oxford Reading Owl has a fantastic selection of Oxford Reading books for the children to read at their level.
- Follow the link: https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/.
- Click on ‘Browse E-books’
- Click on ‘free e-book library’.
- Choose a book
- You can be more specific in your book search and type by selecting browse by age or browse by series.
As well as listening to the children read, it also benefits them to hear adults read and discuss the story together.
For further learning ideas whilst working at home, please have a look at the link below.
Time for a laugh with a cracking castle joke!
Q: Why did the king go to the dentist?
A: To get his teeth crowned.
Don’t forget we have our Google Meet catch up on Monday (1st February 2021). 1M will be at 9:30am and 1C at 10am. You don’t need to bring anything other than yourselves! But, be ready to move about and be active!
Have a fantastic day and a lovely weekend!
