Good morning Year 1.

It has been amazing to see your wonderful learning that you have been doing at home. You have had a very busy week and you should feel very pleased with yourselves!

You have another exciting day of learning ahead. Don’t forget to bring a piece of your favourite learning to the Google Meets this morning.

Here is your learning for today:

PHONICS: Tricky Word Splat

PHONICS: Tricky Word Splat

Before Playing:

  1. Choose 20 words from the phase 2, 3 and 4 tricky word list (see attached PDF) for an adult to write using different colours on a game sheet (see attached PDF to print or use for ideas)
  2. Ask an adult to write the words chosen onto a score sheet (see attached PDF to print or use for ideas).

How to Play:

  1. Set the timer for 30 seconds or 1 minute.
  2. When the timer begins, an adult reads a word from the score sheet.
  3. Find the word on your game sheet and splat it with your hand.
  4. Every time, you say splat, the adult adds a point to your score sheet.
  5. Repeat the game. Can you beat your last score?

ROYAL DUTY 1: Chocolate Biscuit Cake

The Queen of England’s favourite cake is the Chocolate Biscuit Cake.

  • Use your maths skills to measure the ingredients and read the numbers on the scales to follow the Chocolate Biscuit Cake recipe attached.
  • Draw a picture or take photos to add to your Kings and Queens scrapbook/folder.

ROYAL DUTY 2: Royal Number Challenge

Ask an adult to draw a large outline of the Queen’s crown on an A4 piece of paper.

  • Fill the crown with numbers counting on in 1’s. How high can you go?

Super challenge (optional):

Write your numbers counting up in 2’s, 5’s or 10’s.
