After the children provided some ideas and thoughts on what they would like to learn about technology, we began with a key question:
‘What is technology?’
Playing taboo with several different objects gave the children a chance to explore some good explaining vocabulary before they sorted the objects into things they thought were technology and those that weren’t. The sorting criteria the children created for themselves generally ran on the thought that technology had to involve electricity, movement or noise of some sort.
However we soon learnt, from watching a clip, that technology relates to any thing that a human has created to help make life easier or solves a problem! We discussed our sorting and redefined our thoughts about technology.
