Year 2 are working on the skill of retelling a story. We familiarised ourselves with ‘Peace At Last’ by Jill Murphy, by listening to the story online. The children began to pick out the parts of the story they remembered before listening once more. Then, in groups of three, the children retold each other the story holding a bean bag. Whoever held the bean bag began the story, retelling it with as much detail as they could remember. When the whistle was blown the children passed on the bean bag and the story continued to be told by the next child and so on until they had finished the whole story. There were some fantastic sound effects and repeating of important phrases along with some impressive face expressions.
