In Maths, Year 2 have been concentrating on Place Value.
To begin with we made lots of 2-digit numbers with the dienes (tens and ones).
Next, we played a Place Value game. Everyone was given a ten or a one card. Various 2-digit numbers were called out and we had to get together to make them with the correct number of tens and ones.
Then, we recorded our learning on paper, drawing the right number of tens and ones each time.
After that, we have been adding and subtracting ten from a 2-digit number using a 100 square to help us. We noticed that the number of ones do not change each time we do this, only the number of tens change.
Our homework on mymaths this week is all about Place Value – tens and ones.
