Learning Tasks – 14th May

Good morning Year 2. Well done for all your 2D and 3D shape investigations this week. Here are your tasks for today.

Maths – Sorting dinosaurs

Have a go at using a Venn diagram to sort some dinosaurs into 3 groups. For example you could sort them into carnivores (meat eaters), herbivores (plant eaters) and omnivores (meat and plant eaters) using the information from your fact files.

If you drew and labelled the dinosaurs into the correct section where would you put a Velociraptor, a Triceratops and an Oviraptor?

A Velociraptor
A Triceratops
An Oviraptor

Can you find another way of sorting the dinosaurs?

You could also try sorting your 2D and 3D shapes.

In the story ‘Dinosaurs and all that rubbish’ do you think the man was right to make such a mess of the earth and then just leave it?

Do you think the man was right to say everything belonged to him when he came back?

What did the man learn from the dinosaurs?

Today, have a think about what you can learn from this story too. What can you do to be more responsible and caring towards your environment?

Day 4 – You are going to use the ideas in your plan to write the end of your dinosaur story. This is where you need to solve the problem in some way and make everything right again.

Also, if there were any lessons learnt by your characters, you can include these too.

Today’s skill is to use a range of conjunctions – for, but, or, so, when, however and because – to join your clauses together.
