Learning Tasks – 1st May

Hello Year 2. Here are your learning tasks for today.

Maths – Take off

This is a great way to practise subtraction.

Before starting decide upon a start number for example 20, 50 or 100.

Players take turns to subtract any number from 1 to 9.

The player who gets to 0 is the winner.

For example:

1st player 20 – 3 = 17

2nd player 17 – 4 = 13

1st player 13 – 3 = 10

2nd player 10 – 2 = 8

1st player 8 – 8 = 0 winner

General – Dinosaur Dot Art

Australian Aboriginal artists used dots to fill in their designs.

Have a go at creating a dinosaur picture inspired by Aboriginal art.

Draw an outline of a dinosaur. Use different coloured dots to fill the inside and outside of the dinosaur. You can use your finger or cotton buds dipped in different coloured paints. Enjoy!

Writing – All about the Dinosaurs

Today continue writing your fact files about different dinosaurs. Hopefully yesterday you included some questions for your reader to think about when they are reading your writing. Did you remember to write the answers to your questions somewhere too?

Make sure all your pictures have a caption. This is a short sentence underneath each one explaining what is happening in the picture.
