French revolution conscience alley

Today, 4S did a something a little different to persuasive writing (what we’ve been look at). We did something called a conscience alley.

This is where students are grouped into 2 sides (kind of like the angel and devil consciences we see in cartoons) and given a discussion and a side they must argue for.

For example, one of today’s questions was ‘should the guillotine be used?’.

One side had to argue yes and one argued no (all whilst pretending to be alive during the late 1700’s).

One person walks down the middles and listens to the persuasive whispers of each side and then decides which side was more persuasive.

Excellent activity and everyone was very enthusiastic!
