Parent English Workshop

Here is some of the information from yesterday’s parent English workshop.

Learning spelling should not be boring and we have moved on from just using the look, cover, write and check method. We do not have many ‘spelling tests’ in year four but would rather they can spell the words they use in their writing book and also attempt to spell unfamiliar words. Phonics is the bedrock of everything!

Investigate words by sounding out the parts of the word, adding sound buttons (dots and dashes), sorting the words and finding mistakes.

Use these strategies to practise spelling words once the words have been investigated.


The children in year four need to continue to read with an adult at home.
