Wendy Constance was the winner of The Times Children’s Fiction Competition in 2013 with her book ‘Brave’.
She spoke to year 5 about her inspiration for stories, environmental issues and her love of beach combing. She brought with her objects she has found to spark ideas and the children thought of words associated with the beach. They considered the problems of humans discarding plastics in the oceans. Letters were then written from the perspective of the ocean or ocean animals.
