This week in 5S we have been getting practical to support our learning!
In maths, we have been focusing on negative numbers, and as you can see, the children came up with some insightful ways to represent positive and negative numbers. We linked this to our topic Extreme Earth by investigating the temperatures of some extreme places across the planet.
Fun fact! The temperature drops to -35 degrees Celsius in winter in Antarctica!
In science, we learnt about the water cycle through an investigation. We drew diagrams of the water cycle on zip lock bags and then filled these with water before attaching them to the window. We are checking them regularly throughout the day to spot the condensation and water droplets forming.
In dance, we moved on to expressing the movements of a tsunami- something we have been learning about from our class book ‘Running Wild’ by Michael Morpurgo. The children create a range of movements involving jumps and turns to convey a tsunami crashing into land.
