Daily Maths Task: Shape

6T Maths Booster

Revise the properties of the different types of triangles

Watch the video below which shows how to calculate the area of triangles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mRqV6DrP_A

Draw 10 different triangles (try to include some of each type). Give each one a base and height measurement then calculate the area of each one using the formula.

If you want to increase the challenge, try doing the other group’s task as well- it’s all good practice!

6L Maths Booster

Revise the properties of a trapezium.

Watch the video below which shows how to calculate the area of a trapezium.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlxawNewXiY

Draw 10 different trapezia (the plural of trapeziums), give each one a base and height measurement then calculate the area of each one using the formula.

If you want to increase the challenge, try doing the other group’s task as well- it’s all good practice!

Daily English Task:

Today, we are going to practise improving sentences — turning a ‘boring’ simple sentence into something much more Year 6ish! We have included an example at the beginning to show you the sort of thing we are looking for and then some simple sentences for you to improve.

Hopefully this activity will help you to produce some great independent writing in tomorrow’s writing task.
