We are developing our calculating skills and today we played The Box Game. George had cherries in a box and then added some more. We had to work out how many were in the box without seeing them! Then we checked by counting. We had some super ways of working it our – using our fingers, using the numberline and by counting on in our heads. Great calculating!
“So….put up 4 fingers and 3 more and that makes 7”
“8…9,10,11. There’s 11”
“Look on the numberline…start on 6 then go 1 more and 2 more”
“I just did it in my brain!”
