Deconstructed role play

We use props to set up role play situations. This helps us to imagine and create, try out ideas, develop our language and solve problems – much more so than if we had a fixed role play set up for us. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but we are getting much better at working together to create a scenario. Today, we ended up with an ice cream stand/truck! We set up machines, helped write a menu and worked together. You can’t see it but one of the boys added prices to the ice cream – 100p for each one!

We are also trying this more open ended approach in other areas.
