Making marks

Some of the children have been enjoying making marks and communicating their thoughts and ideas. We have started to learn to write our name, too. Knowing that marks mean something is the pre cursor to reading and writing.

An alien wearing glasses
Sending Mummy a picture in an envelope – we listened for the first sound in Mummy and wrote it.
Ammonite fossils.
We like whiteboards as the marks aren’t permanent – you can rub them away!
We learn to hold a pencil with a tripod grip. We need lots of strength in our shoulders, arms and hands to help with our grip.
Using stencils to create shapes.
