Shapes

Both classes have been recapping shapes in their Maths sessions.

We have been playing Odd One Out, which helps us think about the properties of shapes and the related vocabulary. It isn’t always obvious so it really makes us think!

Which is the odd one out? Why?
“That’s a watermelon shape!”

RJ compared shapes with a partner: what is the same? What is different?

They both have pointy corners but they are not the same shape. They ard different colours.

Some of us made pictures and patterns with shapes.

We also talk about the shape of numbers: this helps us to recognise amounts quickly.

We are getting much better at spotting 1,2,3,4,5,6 in different shapes and arrangements. Dice spots, Lego bricks, Numicon and even egg boxes are arranged in ways to help us identify quickly how many there are.
