Every morning, we are now completing a group activity on the carpet. We might do reading, writing, maths or thinking skills activities.
Today, we worked in groups to do some sorting. We had lots of things to look at. Miss J asked us to tell the person next to us about what we could see. One group said:
“There’s a double 3 domino”
“There’s 3 pairs of wellies”
“There’s a number 7”
“That is a hexagon”
We then sorted them into what we could see: lots of amounts of 6, 7 and 8. This encouraged us to think and explain why. The wellies threw us a bit!
“2 and 2 and 2 is 6”
“That’s the Numicon shape”
” A hexagon has 6 corners so it must go with number 6″
