Writing about dinosaurs

Last week, RJ had some super conversations about dinosaurs. Lots of our learning happens from things the children have said and done, so we cover many interesting topics over the year.

Today in our groups, we had a go at writing a simple caption or sentence about a Triceratops or an Apatosaurus. We discussed what we knew about them and then thought of what to write. We used our sounds and tricky words to help us spell. We even used fingers spaces! Practising handwriting at home is already helping the children with their letter formation, so thank you for your support in doing this.

We can sound out it: i-t. Miss J helped with was and then we can sound out big: b-i-g.
We heard our new digraph or in horns, and Miss J helped us to hear the th in three.
