Our underwater adventures began with us writing our own stories. We then started to think about how we could make improvements such as: adding more exciting sentence starters, using conjunctions to extend our ideas and using description to create a picture of our characters and the setting in our reader’s mind.
Using the short film ‘Piper’, we looked at the structure of a story and how there is an opening to introduce characters and the setting, events leading up to a problem, solving the problem and the ending. We worked in groups to sequence the events in the film.
Writing with a partner helped us to work on our different sentence types and share our knowledge and ideas. Soon we will write a new improved story of our own including the features we have been practising.
