Learning from home – measuring
Posted on
Collect some items during your daily walk or from the garden to practise measuring.
You can measure the length if the items are long or the height if they are tall.
Compare them and for length use longer shorter, longest, shortest. For height use taller, shorter, tallest, shortest.
You could also use a ruler or measuring tape to measure in standard units.
Some example questioning:
Find 3 or 4 items to order by height.Which is longer? How much longer is it? Show with your hands how much longer it is. Can you use a ruler to measure how much longer it is? Which is the tallest ? Which colour flower is taller than the yellow ones? Which is the shortest?Find something you are shorter than. Find something that is shorter than you. What is the tallest thing you can find? What is the shortest?
