Monday 18th May 2020 – Home Learning Ideas

Good morning year 4. We hope you had a great weekend. Here are your learning ideas for today:

Writing: using comparative language to compare elephants

Maths: Learning recap – rounding

Topic: Drawing – elephant cartoon

Additional: please remember to keep reading, learn your times tables and practising your spellings.

Writing: Jemima had a great idea to do some learning about elephants (thank you for sharing this with us). She has been watching ‘Walking with Elephants’ with her family and thought we could do some learning on it. However, the programme is on after 9pm (ask your parent’s permission if you can watch it) so we have taken her idea and adapted it slightly.

There are two videos above. Write some notes about the different elephants. Then, turn your notes into comparative sentences using comparative language.

Maths: rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000

Here is a video tutorial for you (there are two videos and some learning tasks):

Here are some additional questions:

Topic: elephant cartoon

Mrs Hewitt’s son has inspired our topic learning today. He has used the videos from ‘Cartoon Dave’ to draw a spider:

This video shows you how to draw a cartoon elephant! Have fun:

Please remember these are only ideas. You could compare your two favourite football teams or your two pets. You could draw a cartoon of yourself We try our best to make it fun and exciting for everyone but you can adapt the learning for your interests.

Have a great day!
