We have been reading a story called ‘The Dot’ by Peter Reynolds. It helped us to practise the skills of inference and deduction. The story is all about perseverance, especially with things that we find difficult. In the story, Vashni needs to show resilience with her artwork and starts drawing dots. We wrote letters to Vashni to help her with the strategies to use to build her resilience and risk taking. We then learnt about a French artist called Georges Seurat who used dotes to create artwork. He called it pointillism.
In art, we learnt about colour mixing and then tried to create our own pieces of pointillism using a paint brush or cotton wall buds.
