The Runaway Pancake

on

We were excited on Shrove Tuesday for pancakes: some of us had them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We found out a little bit about why we celebrate Pancake day and talked about our favourite toppings. Shrove Tuesday is a day that Christians use up eggs and milk before Lent. Lent is the lead up to Easter and Easter is an important time for Christians.

On Wednesday, we made our own pancakes, drawing on the children’s experiences from the day before. We all had a go at flipping them: some ended up on the floor (or Miss J’s foot)!

We have also been learning the Runaway Pancake story using actions for Once upon a time…. Once day…..Suddenly, But….So…..And…..The end…. They are a bit hard to photograph but I have managed a few! We used our sounds, tricky words and finger spaces to write about the story, too.

Open the book for Once upon a time.… and close it for The end
Suddenly! (Tragedy action!)
Hand down for But…
Stretch hands for And…
